I recently found this really nifty [a 60's term...] CD set: ^ CD's of radio and tv promos by bands of the 60's. So I'll be using several per show in the future - there's like 500+ spots]. this week I used one for the Hollywood Bowl concert for the Door's and steppinwolf [and others]. The real cool one, though, is the one for the Monkees concert, which was opened by Jimi Hendrix.... tune in .... or don't.

Here's the song list:

[Come Home] Bill Bailey:   Bobby Darin
Inner Temple:   Gong
Forget that Girl:   Monkees
Those were the Days:   Cream
Free Four   :Pink Floyd
Tooneville Trolley:   Electric Prunes
Giant Sunshine Horses:   Electric Prunes
Heroin:   Velvet Underground
Jack in the Box:   Clodaagh Rodgers
Dirty old Man:   Fugs
Rock me Baby:   Blue Cher
Wharf Rat [Hollister '68]:   Grateful Dead
Let it Bleed [Side 31]:   Stones
When the music's Over: [Hollywood Bowl '68]   Door's
Stick in my Corner Baby:   Pigeons
Pluto, Sept 31st:   Moving Sidewalks
Forget it, I got it:   Spooky Tooth
[Somewhere] Over the Rainbow:   Mike Harrison
Leader of the Pack:   Sam Chalpin
Train to Nowhere:   Savoy Brown Blues Band

I always loved The Monkeys. Still do. Looked up a couple of their back-stage videos and music videos about a week ago just for kicks, then I read through the Wiki page for each member following up stuff I found there with more research. There's some very interesting history and events from this band, and their songs are all quite good and fun. I find some of their best stuff is when they're not even playing... just their ad-libs alone were priceless finds.

The guy who got me on the air was able to get an  on air interview with him and i'm going to do the same - since I know a ton about the Monkees and post monkees. I'm also thinking of trying for an interview with the Electric Prunes as I read that they reformed.
